Supervising MD and Nephrologist
José Morfín is a Board Certified Nephrologist from UC Davis in Sacramento. He has a strong interest in community outreach to underserved populations, specifically in the areas of chronic kidney disease, hypertension and diabetes. In addition, he is a promoter of patient self‐care and empowerment which he believes is an effective means of improving clinical outcomes.
JOSE A. MORFIN, MD
Telemedicine uses an advanced internet connection to allow patients and providers from different geographic areas to see and communicate with each other. Patients are spared the hassle of long commutes to see a specialist while also allowing multiple providers to meet with each other and the patient concurrently. Telemedicine promotes better communication and higher patient satisfaction.
Kidney Care Services of Humboldt contracts
with telemedicine cardiologists (heart) and nephrologists (kidney) doctors from UC Davis to bring high quality, comprehensive focus to each patient. The nurse practitioner provides all direct care and assures patients receive any necessary services.
ANGELA SMITH, ANP-BC, CNN
Founder and Executive Director
Angela is a Certified Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nephrology Nurse with more than 16 years of experience caring for patients and family members with kidney disease. She works to promote individualized care that is centered around the person and not just a disease.
A Humboldt "tranplant" since 2013, Angela embraces the local spirit of it's residents and hopes this care model better meets the needs of northern California.
Kidney Care Services of Humboldt works with two separate dialysis companies, Satellite Healthcare Wellbound and Fresenius Medical Care.
There are different types of dialysis, including home based therapies and incenter. Your provider can help you determine which one might be a better option for you.
Patients requiring dialysis will continue to be cared for by Kidney Care Services but in close coordination with the dialysis provider.

Board President
We are pleased and honored to have Maura Eastman directing activities on the Board of Kidney Care Services of Humboldt. Maura has been active in multiple non-profit boards, strategic planning and community outreach programs.
She is a current resident of Ferndale, CA and works as Director of Youth Service Bureau at RCAA.
Patricia Fisher
Vice-President
Patricia Fisher, also a Humboldt native, is a Family Nurse Practitioner in Eureka. In addition, she has sat with various groups who advocate for fair and equal voice in corporate and political decision-making. She currently resides in Hydesville, CA.
Megan Mahon
Treasurer and Secretary
Also a nurse practitioner, Megan is active in California Association of Nurse Practitioners, currently serving as the local chapter's President. She has been particularly attentive to ideas that promote the healthcare needs of rural California.
